Autumn feeling

With all this rain and relatively cold (16 degrees Celcius) and windy days, every one is complaining about the weather in our little country. Although i have not had the summer feeling at all this summer, i am secretely longing for autumn colours.

My CAN'T WAIT LIST:
Can not wait to see our allotment in autumn time;
Can not wait to be able to run with dog at the beach (beaches are closed for dogs in Holland during summertime);
Can not wait to sit in our new kitchen next to a canddle, sipping tea, listening to the radio, be proud of my own carpenter;
Can not wait to have our autumn-harvest-festival;
Can not wait to see the growing bellies from my 2 best friends (mummy's to be);
Can not wait to be stressed out (okay, a bit stressed out would be bettter) for my exams ( i am picking up my master study Sociology);
Can not wait to run 9 miles with my brother and dad, hill up and down;
Can not wait to welcome Sinterklaas at our home town;
Can not wait to listen at Slenterblues from Eva de Roovere (whenever i am feeling blue);
Can not wait to sit on the couch, next to my Love (with the dog at my feet and the cat at my lap) watching our favorite TV shows;
Can not wait to welcome my third baby nephew, or maybe my first niece!

Writing this post, i realize how blessed i am. I am counting my blessings, although realize that there are times when a loss occurs that we simply are not comforted by the many blessings in our life. I hope you can look forward for next season.

Chalkboard Paint

I am doing all sort of little projects for the new kitchen, like painting jars with spray and chalk. There was enough inspiration on the web,  here and here, to re-use old spice jars i dumped in a closet a while ago. They used to have red cover - brrr..... sorry but that is not my colour! Nice little project you can do during rainey days. It took me about 2 hours and all you need is chalkboard paint, spray, old papers and one pencil. Of course you can make something more artistic (saw biutiful colours chalk paint and you can also use a template for nice figures), the cupboard were i will be putting these jars will be the eyecatcher and not the jars.....

But the coolest part is that they contain flower seeds. By burying Oat Shoes in your garden, the become part of the organic circle.  So within a few months a pair sneakers will cause a flower explosion!

1-Year Anniversary!

Back on 5 August 2010, my first post went online at Fem30 Blog. It was just a simple message. I had absolutely no idea what types of post I was going to be putting on this blog. I just felt that writing would offer the means of organization necessary to make sense of the feelings and thoughts in my head. I was looking for a recipe of life!
Being in the waiting room for more than 4 years now is the hardest life event yet thrown at me. I love to live passionately but carrying around that small black cloud takes a lot of energy. Sometimes all i can think of are babies.

After a hesitant start, one year later i can see writing this blog turned out to be a documentary. Those collection posts reflects my perspectives on and my journey in life. Blogging helps me to learn to slow down and notice the small stuff. To see once again the things that matter. It is about learning how to live with what comes my way. Blogging takes me back to happy moments and makes me enjoy them even more.
I wish to thank those readers whom I know and those whom I do not know for taking the time to read it. Hopefully this blog gives you too inspiration to live your life happy and joyful.

Straight from the Grove

The Kitchen project is making progress! Maybe you think why it is taking so long? Well, you are right but
- my boyfriend is running his own company next to this building project
- we were suprised by the offer of the allotment in june, could not let that pass but that also needed some restoration work..........
- so you can image that after taking over the allotment we have a tide tide budget
- and of course we want to re-use material (fun & ecofriendly), i can tell you searching for second handed material takes a lot of time
- we live in an old house built before the 18th century so you can image everything is untidily and has to be made custom
- my boyfriend is doing this job all by himself (me, at the most i am catering and take care of the household and the dog, but sometimes -i shamely admit-  i am just wining about doing fun trips to Antwerpen or Gent or going to a movie)
- unlike most selfbuilders, we DO have a social life (plenty of bbq parties at our allotment this summer!)

Well, to me my boyfriend is my Handyman Heroe. He is learning so fast, has a lot of tenacity and vision. Can you belief you can manage a project & be the architect, the main groundworker, the carpenter etc.? I can not. I am just the decorator. So i am doing a bit shopping on the web and found this fantastic Olive Oil from Nudo, straight from the Grove
Ethically produced, fantastic design and partly organic. Great gift suggestion: adopt a olive tree and you'll receive all the produce from your tree! Promise, soon there be pics from the new kitchen!

Collecting Seeds

Summer on the corner

Yesterday, we had suddenly a sunny day. After weeks of rain it was a real treat! But summer on the corner or not, i celebrate this holiday drinking everyday (yes, maybe twice a day!) delicious fruit juices and smoothies. One rule: it must be easy to make and red of colour! At the moment i am totally hooked on a mix of summer fruits like strawberry, red currants, blackberries, raspberries, black grapes, orange- and grapefruit. Most of those fruits come from our plot- yummie!
