Happy Cocooning

On this Rainy Sunday, my love and I crawl together to watch the Up series from Paul Almond. The Up Series is a series of documentary films that have followed the lives of fourteen British people of different races, genders, and socio-economic backgrounds since 1964 (age 7 till age 49).

From a sociological perspective it is really fascinating, but it is also full of quotes about all kind of life questions (hidden fears and dreams....). Like seven year Paul who says I don't like greens, and actually expresses what so many people (especially men?) feel!

I really love it!

EcoLifestyle

Being a product of 2 idealistic and practical people, we try to life an ecofriendly life. That is why I buy secon- hand and fair fasion. Now days, you can find so many nice labels producing ethical and organic fashion, you can say ECO is hot. Well, that is a good thing!

Like this t-shirt from the label A GUESTION OF, I really fell for the font.

This t-shirt reminds my, do you already use the green font with holes, named EcoFont? With this font you can realise Sustainable printing. It is so easy to download it, I just have to found out how to use it on this blog........

Home (Made) Happiness

Family \ fam_-i-l_\ n. l ; a group of people who love and take care of one another.

Just spend a couple of days at my sisters place in Losser, a green rural place nearby the German border. I really enjoyed family life there!  With two little boys (age 2 and 4) life is quit different from ours (two yuppies living in a city).

Thanks to my older sister' s encouragement I made this little felted bag.  She is a great mom and really attentive person, who's always busy making lovely things for other people.

Back home, it is nice to have the wooden hearts nearby again, made by my LOVE!

Kun je een rups leren vliegen?

Uit: Brommerez & Van Zijtveld (2002). Kun je een rups leren vliegen? Uitgeverij Nieuwe dimensies, Eemnes.

Butterfly coaching

In daily life I have this privilege to coach young people on their way to become a professional and, hopefully, into making choices from the heart. My students really inspire me.  Even now, during summertime holidays, I am looking for effective but creative tools to use in my work as supervisor.

Today, I found these really cute dragonflies made by New Fashion Brooch.  I will give them to my students during this first meeting, using the metaphor of the catapillar who will slowly crawl out and become this beatifull butterfly. To me, it is almost magic, to see this major progress students make just in one year time.

In dutch I will add this inspiring story called, Kun je een rups leren vliegen?

Stronger than a hurricane

Whenever I feel blue
There are two things to do

Yoga
or
Running

Some say
those two
does not match

For me it works

Afterwards
My life feels great again
full of possibilities & joy

This yoga pose
called Camel
is my favorite

I am just a beginner
but this pose awakes my strength
and is very uplifting

It is said to be the most feminine pose
With this pose
you empower your self
to be graceful, nurturing, compassionated and strong!

Born to run

Just read this incredible book BORN TO RUN, by Christopher McDougall. About the superhuman talent of the Tarahumara Indians of Mexico to run hundreds of miles without rest and the world of ultra-running. All started by one simple question of the auteur: Why does my foot hurt?

An ode to the joys of running.
 A beautiful discovery.
 Pure inspiration.

Page 241 tells about amazing athletic achievements of women: "And caring for kids on the fly isn't that hard, as American ultra runner Kami Semick demonstrates: she likes to run mountain trails with her four-year-old daughter, riding along in a backpack". And this other woman, Emily Baer, ran in the 2007 Hardrock 100 miles (beat ninety other men and women!) while stopping at every station to breast-feed her infant son".

The web tells (spinalreflexanalysis.com)that in a typical training week before a major race Emily makes about 80-90 miles per week with back-to-back long runs on the weekend.

Once, I was training for a marathon. But I never made it, I got crippled just after this amazing run (25 km) with my brother.

Total focus and dedication. And I got crippled.

Since then.
My foot hurts too.

That's life?

Restless neurons

The first time to be active on the web (never been on hyves, face book linked in etc.)....brrrr. I get  cold feet!

But I want to do this. Have to do this. Do not know where to start, or where it will end. Just like Julie Powell (The Julie / Julia Project) looking for a recipe for life?

Being a woman in confusing times.
 Passed last year 30.
Restless neurons.

You know what I mean.
