Patchwork Curtain

The last 3 days, my mum and i were immersed in the Curtain Project for our new kitchen. A couple of years ago i was inspirered by this curtain, hanging in a Museum in Haarlem (Netherlands). Since then it stayed in my head, so i was pretty pleased to start holiday times with this great DIY project!

Mum did the thinking, i was in the priviliged position
to follow her instructions and learn a bit about sewing (i am unskilled when it comes to needlework). It tooke some hours to design the curtain, we had saved so many unique old patches that it was hard to choose! The "youngest fabric" is 4 years old, the "oldest" was used as bedspread more the 40 years ago.

Ultimate, we made a curtain  Drop 2.50 m x Width 2.20 m and used 8 different types of textiles (20 patches in total). The groundwork of all the patches is a standard Ikea curtain with rings (we will use scaffolding for hanging).

The project is not yet finished- we have great ideas for the other side! So at the end of the summer i will be sitting again behind the sewing -machine and when when the new kitchen is installed you will see the result!
