Safe haven
This weekend i am cocooning at home and literally try not to leave our front door at all. Meanly because there is a paper deadline coming for my Msc so i have to study, but it is also because there are passing thousands of people our big (formerly show)window. Normally, we live at a quiet shopping street but now our inner city is transformed in a Christkindlmarket, a popular tourist attraction.
I do love the intimacy with family and friends, but this outdoor market is to me christmas craziness. Not my cup of tea. So i am gladly hiding my face in my books & enjoy being home.

Swimming against the tide
Oh boy, it has been a while since i posted a message here.
I could say i was busy with collecting data for my Msc thesis
I could say i was overwhelmed by work
I could say i was celebrating life and birthday's of loved ones
I could say i was back into runners world making 20 miles a week
I could say times flies when you are busy making plans
I could say i am ok with the plan of starting a fertility trajectory this spring
But the truth is
I circled around & around my blog
because i am avoiding my inner self.
Now writing this post i realize
I've started resisting
resisting some of the things that grief taught me to soften into.
When i was younger
the path was so clearly laid out before me.
Now there is no clear road
there is no direction pointer
that tells me " Now you do A, then B, then C".
It is all about owning your own transitions.
It's time to reconnect to my inner self
to be thankful no matter how tough life gets
because I still get this chance to live it!

Grass roof
This weekend we made our little allotment cabin ready for wintertime. We did a good job cleaning the place and (despite all the extra stuff from our urban pace) oh boy it looks real better now -why did not we do this earlier in the season?
It is fun to see the roof transforming. My boyfriend did a little experiment two weeks ago and viola.....the roof is turning green! He used mulch from our own garden on top of agricultural tarpaulin and sowed grass on it. This way it cost you a penny instead of the expensive sedum topping.
The porch is handmade by old trie trunks, leftovers from our neighbour. Hopefully next year the grape will embrace our little outdoor place. The little electricity we use comes from solar panels so slowly our little cabin and garden is turning from a sober vegetable plot into our ecological paradise!

Autumn fruits
Suddenly autumn is there! Last week i celebrated the first day off autumn with my friend picking apples at a local farm. It is our yearly ritual. This year was kind of extra special because my friend carried her newborn with her. It is incredible: last year my friend was hardly into the thought of getting a baby and now she is carrying her everywhere. They are so cute together.
An apple harvest ritual is a great way to celebrate life, friendship and nature. It marks the transition from an outdoor to indoor life, physical but also mentally. It is a good time to look at the fruits of your life and count your blessings!
My friend and i always go back to the same orchard. It is nice to see what changed there (just like in our lives) and what is still the same. After the picking we go to the farmershop to buy biological vegetables and goat cheese. Then we eat our apple with some fresh fruit juice and watch all those happy people picking there own fruit. And of course, back home, we make a lot of different apple recipes like apple cake/ bread/ crumble / mousse etc........Love it! Here come some autumn pics, from a sunny weekend in and around my home town Dordrecht!

Project Allotment 2013
My parent's in law invited us to the Tuinen van Appeltern, a walk through garden information park. Although we are not really people who like finished concepts ( our creative process goes slow and we rather learn what we like by trial and error), it was fun to go there and we did find inspiration for our allotment land. So these pics are for our scrapbook Project Allotment 2013!
